Week 13 23 - 29 June
Sunday 23
Setout from Charter Towers about 6.30. Temp 8 degrees. Breakfast at Belyando Crossing. Short stop at Capella and lunch in Emerald. Fuel in Rolleston. Short stop at memorial on the Bauhinia Downs road arrived at Taroom for the night about 5pm. Stayed at the Leichardt Hotel motel rooms and nice dinner in room warmed by wood fire.
Monday 24
Cold start today 2 degrees. We left about 8am and had a pie at the Bakery in Miles for breakfast. Arrive home about 11.30. Kate was here. She had come over that morning from Peg's. Chantel came down from next door. They had killed a pig for someone else and they did not come and get it so they gave it to Dad. Robyn and Kate had to pack it and put it in the freezer. Dad had a corn meat on for lunch. When for a ride around the farm and it appeared cattle were all over the place. When I got back Debbie Trace was visiting. She left and about an hour later Warren and Kerry arrived. They had come from Blackall and were headed to Mitch and Mel's on the sunny coast tomorrow. Word came through late that Peg had fallen over in the garden and the community arranged to take her to the doctor for a check up.
Tuesday 25
Night not as cold as the one before. I took Warren and Kerry for a tour over the hills on the quads before Dad and I went to town. After Warren and Kerry left Robyn and Kate went over to check on Peg. After town I fixed the float in the mill trough and tightened up the wires in the gate between the hill behind the house and other place. Also did some repairs to the fence between the hill paddock and the paddock before green grove. Robyn and I finished the day taking the clothes of the line.
Wednesday 26
Started with a quick ride to check where cattle are. Worked on reference in email and catching up blog. Brendan O'Brien come over for a yarn which I think Dad appreciated. The cleaner came as we were finishing lunch. I reported the landline was not working and Dad and I went for a ride to cut a couple of trees off fences. Opened up the bull paddock so cattle can go from Green Grove through there to water without access to the hill paddock. Robyn, Kate and moved the cattle from down the front to the back and closed off the front paddocks.
Thursday 27
Finished off book work for May and completed a draft of Peg's GOR trip. Peg came over for lunch and then she and Robyn went to Katrina's. Robyn is off for her sisters weekend to the Brisbane Valley rail trail bike ride. Kate and I went for an afternoon quad bike ride and the cattle are still pasture paddock near the spring.
Friday 28
Dad and I when to Toowoomba and I donated blood while he watched the US Presidential Debate. we got home about 4pm. Kate worked on going away paperwork and Robyn was riding her bike in the rail trail. Maybe bit off a little more than they could chew and finished in the dark. More pedalling than she expected I suspect. that said it was very pretty.
Saturday 29
Went to Trev and Wendy's to work on the carport roof. We got it done except for the top flashing. Started to drizzle as we finished. Landon gave Trev and I a hand. On the way home the fuel light on the bike came on so I diverted to Dalby to get fuel. Robyn finished her ride and Kate had lunch with Dad at Pips n Cherries before heading to Ben and Nay's picking Robyn up on the way.
