Week 14 June 30 - July 6
Sunday 30
No Church today as it is a 5th Sunday. Dad had been invited to a lunch arranged by Joy Shields an Old teaching friend of Mum's. It was at the Wombat Café in Jandowae. WE arrived at the perscribed time 12pm and there was about 6 other people waiting outside. No sign of Joy. After 30minutes I went in to check if they had heard from Joy. They had not and said that she had booked for 27 people. Turns out the most of the other guest had come passed Joy's place in Dalby. They reported that at 11.30 she was still in her dressing gown. By 1pm all were there and the show was on the road. She had a bloke from Bell come and do some bush poetry. He did a poem about diary farming called "Pulling Tits" very good. Dinner was roast pork and cheese cake for desert. Very nice. I was very impressed with the patience of the owner and staff. We came home to a peaceful Sunday afternoon. The Predicted rain did not show until much latter that night. Decided to go to Ben and Nay's in the morning.
Monday 1
Having packed last night I left as the day was dawning about 6.30am. Working of a new route MC path Farm to Ben and Nay's through Crow's Nest. Rung Meridy on the way and arrange to have breakfast with she at her cafe near the garden centre. On the way to Ben and Nay's the GPS came off it mount and slide down the road. The screen was destroyed. Arrived at Ben and Nay's about 11.30am. After lunch Ban and I went to the shops. We had a very successful trip. I had rung Garmin and they said if I send them my GPS they would send be a refurbed one for the price of replacing the screen $178. We mailed the GPS to them. When to JB HiFi and brought a Starlink kit and then to Coles to click and collect the groceries. I managed to get a coffee for us while they came. When we got home Meridy was there with the Ute. I rang her home after dinner. While Ben cooked rissoles on the BBQ I registered for Starlink so with a mount bracket that I ordered in the morning I will be ready to install Starlink at home. Word came today that Peg was in hospital and it was likely they would operate on her bruised leg.
Tuesday 2
We left Ben and Nay's before to take Kate to airport to head to the US and after training on to a two year tour with Mercy Ships. It was raining lightly but consistently. We had breakfast at Orion and purchased a car cover to put on Kate's car at Meridy's while it waited for Anna to pick it up. then back to Ben and Nay's to load the bike in the ute and packed. We headed out about 10.30 taking Kate's car to Meridy's on the way. After a cuppa we head to the hospital in Toowoomba to see Peg who was just out of surgery. She was bright and doing well. The next step is to wait to see if she needs a skin graft. Picked up some groceries and bike filters and ordered a starter motor for one of the quads. It rained most of the way home and we got back to the farm about 6.30pm.
Wednesday 3
Down day today. The wind was blowing like crazy. Dave came up to get a chisel plough. This was good because I left the tyres and my boots at Ben and Nay's so he stop in and picked them up. I did some book work stuff and booked next year Outback adventure. We did the washing. Kate arrived in the US safe and sound. Second mill tough near the house was gummed up and not letting water through. Managed to clean it out and get it working.
Thursday 4
Alan Mosling and Peter Lambley came over and we sorted preaching roster for the next term. The pole adapter for the starlink arrived in Bell so Robyn and I went in and picked it up. Did a bit more on bookwork. Had a mentoring meeting with Lindy.
Friday 5
When to Doctor in Dalby. Dad's appointment was cancelled but he had an xray on his foot. I had a blood test and Robyn had her doctor's appointment. We did some shopping and I got bits to make up Starlink roof mount. Came back to Pips n Cherries for lunch. When we got home I went to work on setting up statlink. Got it done and it works great. Ping was 850ms now 58ms and download is 366. Means Kayo through Google Chromecast is as clear as a bell. Very happy. Cancelled dad's Skymesh. Need to sort his email.
Saturday 6
Head out about 7.30 to motorcycle to Toowoomba via Kumbia over the Bunyas and down to Maidenwell for breakfast. When to see Peg at the Toowoomba Hospital she had a skin graft yesterday and will be in hospital probably until Monday. Got home about 5.30pm. Dad reports the the ball tap on the other trough I fixed last week had come unscrewed again and let the tank go again. Frustrating. Watched MotoGP. Clear and live. Very good.
