Monday 9
Sorted the cattle today. Brought them in in two lots and sorted the young stuff from the cows and calves. 73 cows 64 calves 25 steers 30 heifers and 3 Micky bulls. There was a lot that got away too. Not sure how many were in that lot. Forgot to shut the gate. Say 6 cows and 6 calves and five or six young ones including one big steer. Was a hot day so we were pretty knocked up. Day finish with a gentle storm started about 4.30 and rained lightly till 6pm. Got the washing done today too.
Tuesday 10
Had 42 mm of rain it was overcast all day and then started raining steady about 4.30pm. Checked cattle before we went to town and they all look good and in the right place. Need to bring the cowscin again and run them through the crush as a practice and to treat some pink eyes. We went to town. I got a haircut and we did shopping and brought fuel. Worked on Christmas Eve service plan tonight.
Wednesday 11
80 mm of rain last night and the creek started to run. 3/4 filled the dam. Made some changes to plans as a lot of roads were cut. We could not get to Matt's house. Went out to walk in the creek and Dad and I drove over the hill checking rain guages. Noticed that 5 of the steer/ heifers had got through the old dairy into the hill behind. After lunch I when out and checked the fence. The boundary is up but not great. Spent an hour on the drone buzzing them but in the end I close the diary up and we can work it out when they are a bit thristy. Spent the rest of the day doing the books and fixing the doors.
Robyn went to Julie's about lunchtime and helped her clear a room she was struggling to get to.
Thursday 12
Check mouse baits. Slower start today. Matt had to load logs for the saw mill before we got to the house. I when over to Pegs to find the Bill there with the truck bogged. Greg came up with the tractor to pull it out. I had a cuppa with Peg and when over to the house. We got started about 11am Julie came to help while Bill took logs to Proston. Peg brought lunch at 1.20 and worked on to 6.30 got about 2/3 of the frames stood. Robyn was home and started cleaning windows on verandah and dining/lounge room and did some washing
Friday 13
Early start today. Met Matt at bore. Corner at 5.20. When we got to Pankhurst Bill was there. Had the remaining frames stood by 10am and was back at Werona by 10.30. Had a cuppa with Peg and Robyn and Wendy arrived. I took the ute and went back to Callemondah had a shower and joined Dad and Jenny Lee for lunch. Off to Dalby to had an ultrasound on my knee.
Home again to adjust the fence so cattle that got through diary can come back to water. Mowed the grass till dark. Little bit to finish tomorrow.
Saturday 14
Jenny Lee stayed last night and will be here today and tonight before she heads to Brisbane to meet Christie Lee who is flying down for an operation on her eye. Finished mowing the grass and mowed the front gate. Jack Lewis came up from Toowoomba for a visit today took him for a tour all over the farm and then we went to a drive around the wind farm. He went home after lunch. By then it was raining and we have another 35mm and the creek started to run again. Talked with Paul and we called our cricket trip off. Talked about him coming up to help muster next week. Happy not to be going after my big trip last weekend and Matt's place this week. Body could do with a rest.
