Week 45 Feb 2 - 8
Sunday 2
Dad had a bad night last night. Stomach bug. He is blaming the apricots pieces he had for tea last night. Close investigation shows the custard he had is out of date. He did not come to church as a result. Trevor preached and Alan and Peter officially welcomed us to the church as new members. Came home to lunch and some more Bathurst 12hr. After a nap we went to Kingaroy for Andrew Clausen's induction. Kingaroy has become a calling charge for duration tine since union in 1977. Testimony to God's faithfulness. Pumped water last night and today. All tanks are full now. Opened gates to allow cattle down the front plan is to see if we can get the steers back. Time will tell.
Monday 2
Bit of a drizzle day. Spent most of it in the office. Sorted email. Paid bills. Completed DCC induction training. Produced Budget and did books to the end of January. Sorted tithing too. Had a sleep. Robyn went to Bible Study and I went for a drive with Dad. Some of the escaped cattle have come down. Troy contacted me to say that office AC was not working. We got Shane onto it. I sorted extra green waste collection for Dapplewood and check on spider spray. Still need to do contract for Dapplewood.
Tuesday 4
Relief in Jandowae. Year 3, Year 1, Year 6 and Year 9/10 to finish. Year 9/10 are doing a subject called "The Leader in Me" and Covey program. I wish I had been more prepared to do it. I did not do my best with this class today but at the end I feel I made progress in my connection with some of them. Got home about the same time Dad and Robyn came home from town. Dad got his licence renewed. After a cuppa we moved the trough from the yards to the paddock beside the house and hooked it up. Robyn checked all the fence whole I did the plumbing. We then fix med the fence around the trough behind the diary. Got in about 7pm.
Wednesday 5
Another on again off again drizzly day. Did some work on UK travel plans. Sorted Peg and her Starlink payment. After lunch we went and got the cows from the front and picked up four steers and three heifers. Then went and tilled paddock at the other place. By the time I had finished it was raining a measurable amount. Then sorted the steers and heifers so we had the one themat is blind in the yard on her own the others are behind the house in the paddock I put the trough in earlier in tge week. We have the vet coming to look at the heifer tomorrow or Friday.
Thursday 6
Went to Dalby to collect grain, fuel and some other bits and pieces. Got home in time to put blind heifer in tge crush before the vet came. We brought up some of the steers and heifers to put her with some she could find her way back to the paddock. Vet thanks she eyes have a good chance of recovery. After lunch we cleared all the stock off the cultivation so Michael's dad can plough it all. Next we retieved the quad that broke yesterday and took it to the dairy. Finished the day by washing the ute. Been a long time coming. Ben let us know that he and the kids are coming up on the weekend.
Friday 7
Robyn went to her mum's to clean. I changed the wheels on my Explorer 2 putting back on the road tyres. I changed the rear brake pads too. Not for new ones but better ones. Robyn helped me hook up tillers before she left and I tilled the paddock again to break up the couch a bit more. I brought them home and after lunch I took the combine over and planted. Dad came over to check on progress and then found the harrows he had been looking for for days. After I finished planting I took the planter back and parked it up with the other machinery and then got the harrows out of the grass. Bree, Theo and Jayne arrived. Robyn had come back too. Later Nic and Ian showed up and Benn and Charlie and Lucy arrived to ready to cut up meat in the morning. Robyn and I slept in the lounge.
Saturday 8
Butcher arrived before 5am to start cut up. Ian and Jayne had the packing stations sorted and the job was done by 11.30am. Greg and Sue came out too. The kids and I cleaned out the combine, fixed the ball tap on the trough above the dairy and modified the gates some the cattle would stay in and Dad could drive over to Harry's boundary. Bree and Nic and Jayne took meat home to put in freezers on the coast.Ben and I took the Explorers and met JB principal in Jandowae and went for a ride over the Bunyas. We had lunch at the pub up there. Got home about 2.30. The second explorer needs some suspension work. It is really rough. We packed the ute and went to Cooranga North and mowed the grass and cleaned the church. Ben and the kids came to help. When we got back I took the tractor with all the bones over to the other place.
