Week 46 9 - 15 Feb

Sunday 9
Dad's 88th Birthday. Went to church Adam preached. Ben and the kids left after we went to church. Ian came to Church. After we went to Pips n Cherries for lunch. Jenny-Lee joined us there and Chris and Trudy and Ebony did too. By the time we got home Dad was pretty beat. John Drew was ploughing and tractor broke. We towed it out of the paddock and it ran over our tractor and got tied up. It then took the rest of the afternoon to solve this problem. Bigger day than expected. Did notice more steers had come down the front so we locked gates up the back and plan to get them in tomorrow.
Monday 10
Got an early text from Dalby CC and headed in to do day 3 of relief. First day at DCC for the year. Put a hole in our cattle plans. Good day. Came home the same time Robyn went to Bible Study. Took a ride around the cattle and pumped out the septic tank and did a bit of work on my bike adjusting the suspension. Looked at the steering head no plan yet.
Tuesday 11
Got cattle in this morning and sorted out steers and heifers we got  4 steers  2 heifers and a Mickie bull. We sprayed cattle for buffalo fly. After this we went to town. Had lunch. Robyn went for a hair cut. Dad and I got steel to make light bracket and socket to undo steering head bearing so I can tighten it. I put top box on the new bike. We got home about 4.30. Had a nap and then I tighten the Explorer 2 steering head. Will ride it to Jandowae tomorrow to see if that and the suspension adjustment made a difference.
Wednesday 12
Did mouse baits and pumped water to tank above dairy. Relief in Jandowae. The Explorer 2 was much better with adjusted suspension and tight steering head. Session 2 in Jandowae today was tough. Ebony was pretty good but Emily saw again defiant and a constance battle. Dakota was great just doing her best. Need to do more work on my skills. Not there yet. Came home and after sometime off I swapped the suspension on bikes and pull the gps, spot and phone mount off Explorer 1. Finished in the dark. Was on the phone to Steven who told me at Presbytery's request he would resign as s Session Clerk a big rat walked accross the top on the chairs on the verandah.
Thursday 13
Up early and met Matt at the bore corner to go work on his house. We did ceiling battens and battened the whole house and screwed them off until we ran out of screws . Arms hurt by the end but it was a good job done. Nice to work inside. Roof is on now. Robyn hunt down rat today cleaning up everything on the verandah. No sign but saw one in the office so she blocked for door out of tge office and put a bait in there.
Friday 14
Up early again to go to Toowoomba to donate blood. Back to Dalby to meet Robyn and Dad who had a doctors appointment. Before leaving Toowoomba I visit a bike shop and picked up a motocross helmet for my outback adventure later in the year and a brake reservoir quad lock mount. In Dalby we had our tetanus shots got some rat traps and headedcback to Bell for lunch at Pips n Cherries. After a nap Robyn and I went out and found that are more steers down the front. There are a mob of cattle up the back still but we did not see second bull or any more steers. We fixed the fence to make a bigger paddock for sale steers. Will need to finish it tomorrow. Set rat traps. Got them to take some bait but did not catch any rats.
Saturday 15
Big day in prep to go away. Brought all the cattle up from down the front. Treated some pink eye and drafted out 3 steers. Extended part of the steer paddock to include top part of the bull paddock. Mowed the grass and sprayed the edges. One heifer has crawled into the larger part of the bull paddock. Have to get her back tomorrow. I talked to Kate and emailed travel agent about flights and car hire. Email Bernii to sign up for LoSoP school rep program. Set rat traps but still no luck.
