Week 56 20 -26 April CRD23

Sunday 20
Charlie and Lucy were warn out after big day yesterday and did not get up til closer 7. After breakfast and checking the fire from last night we did an Easter egg hunt and them headed to church. After church Charlie and Lucy had a go on the quad before lunch. Robyn made porcupines. Ben and Nay packed up and they headed off about 2.30pm. Watched some Bathurst 6hr a race which is like race your street car. About half the weaners came into drink some I moved them down to the yard paddock. Hoping to get them all in and check out how many steers and heifers we have. We went form a ride and could not see any on the hill behind piggery. Jack and Izzy arrive about 11pm. Tied the dogs up cause they keep barking at weaners.
Monday 21
Refilled mouse baits. Bucket traps had about 30 mice today. Robyn did the washing and I did some work on my message for next Sunday. Jak fitted an AC to the office. I fixed the waste water pump.  Arrange for a round bail feeder from Matt and hay from Michael and Chantelle. Need to talk to David about feeding some of the millet. After lunch Brendan O Brien came to collect the auger. Joe Michael's dad was ploughing the cultivation again. Jess and Ben arrived too. Robyn and I headed up to do some more on the fence. We stood the steel post on the hill about 23 and then came down and moved the wing fence with Jak and Ben's help put in the posts and put up the top wire. Jak made a chicken curry for tea. Went to bed before 9pm. Robyn cooked some biscuits.
Tuesday 22
Town today. Pretty busy. I could not get a hair cut. Lunch at Jamacia Blue. When we got home we unpacked and went to Peg's to get hay rack. Good to see her and Julie dropped into. Micheal dropped off 3 bails of hay. I set gates so cattle in the bull paddock could drink in the yards and one's behind the piggery could come down to the trough behind the containers near the house. See how that works over the next few days.
Wednesday 23
Bell today for first of my contract days in ITD. Went well. We ran F1 cars and it was good fun. Had a kid show up for the first time today by 1st break he had coated the toilets in sunscreen, sprayed himself with WD40 and told a teacher to F off and was asked to go home. Wondercif he will be in next week. Had another guy transfer to Food Tech so that makes Year 10 4 students 5 if WD 40 is back. Came home and had a yarn to Dad. Joe had brought over another bale of hay and did some more ploughing.  Went up the back and found two heifers and a cow and calf  in the paddock beside Green Grove. Managed to put the cow and calf back on the hill paddock. There is still 5 or 6 in the piggery paddock and a steer on it own in the paddock above the bull paddock. Will have another go tomorrow after school. Robyn went to the dentist. Job was too big for the time they had so she is booked for May. Family went up the mountain for morning tea and Ben made Spag Bol for tea tonight. Very nice. Been great to have them.
Thursday 24
Relief at DCC. Got some planning time with Jenni for 7 9 10 HASS and 9 and 10 English. Day finishedcwith an ANZAC day service. Think my Mackay ones were better but it was good. Got home just after 4 pm. Had a cuppa and chased steer from top of the bull paddock to the bottom and set gates some all have access to water. It has been a damp day with showers. Put the motorbikes in the shed and moved hay to the truck shed. Watched the last in High Potential series before bed. Jak and Izzy and Jess and Ben left today after lunch with Dad and Robyn at Pips n Cherries. It has been a very nice visit. Hope we see them again sometime. Jenny Lee rang to suggest Dad comes up next week. Dad seems keen.
Friday 25
Attended the ANZAC day service in Bell at 6am with breakfast at the RSL after. Caught up with Bill and Julie and Matt after the service. Had a yarn to Boxer Caldwell and another bloke who knew us but we could not remember his name. Came home and worked on my message for Sunday. Then went up the back to see if we could chase out a couple of heifers from the middle back paddock got there and found a mob in there. Reckon they had come through the fence from the spring to the National park which was in poor repair. We found a dead heifer in the bull paddock to.  Went back after lunch and dragged the heifer further away from the house and and fixed it up with a few steel post and tie wire. Got home just so dark. Juneeta and Josh and their 8 kids showed up just after 8pm and settled in quickly.
Saturday 25
Up early for a day ride with Troy Law and his dad Dave. We met In Crow's Nest with a plan to ride to Legume but change it by Esk and did Mt Glorious /Mt Mee loop instead. Nice day out. Juneeta and Josh's kids had a busy day riding bikes all over the farm til they used up all the fuel they had brought. Robyn up the stake out cattle in the paddock behind the dairy to shut the gate when they came in for a drink. I put tge drone up to find they were all in the top half of the bull paddock. Tried to bri g them down with the drone but not luck got dark and battery ran out.  Juneeta and Robyn made savoury mince and toast for tes to feed everyone. I went to bed early.
