Week 84 2 - 8 November CRD88
Sunday 2
Very early start with the Butcher here before dawn. He Butcher and quatered three steers by 8am. It was 9.30 before I had tried up. Dad, Ian and Robyn went to church and I followed up in the ute. Trevor preached. After lunch at Pips n Cherries Robyn and I went straight to Kingaroy to the hospital so Robyn could have her wrist checked out. Dad and Ian followed a little behind and we all went to the Celebration of Life service for Ian Barron. Good event. Robyn was finished at the hospital as the service finished so she came to the afternoon tea. Ian does not want to sent any cattle to be lot feed at O'Brien's so we will sort weaners for sale on Wednesday.
It was a big day home tried. To bed early for another exam day tomorrow.
Monday 3
Dalby CC Modern History and Maths paper 1. Back home Robyn had the weaners most of the way to the yards. A cow who had just calved and a heifer got out on the middle back paddock. We drafted them out and ended with 15 steers and 13 Heifers and 8 cows with calves. We put in hay for the 15+13 who will go the the sale tomorrow.
Tuesday 4
Dalby CC second Maths exam and then home to load cattle. I drafted out 6 heifers incised they did not fit on the truck. Turns out 22 was the exact number that fitted. So sent 15 steers and 7 heifers. Robyn and Dad went to town when they got home they Robyn and I rode Bottle tree hill and the improved pasture paddocks near Harry's and then cleared Jimbour Creek. Turns out the cattle did some self mustering and we had the otherplace cleared as well. Paul arrived about 6.30pm. Ready for tomorrow.
Wednesday 5
Mustered and weaned 40 Heifers, 28 steers, ringed 17 bull calves. There are a total of 85 cows. Put the bulls and steers over at the other place. Heifers on improved pasture near Harry's and cows and calves up the back. Lot of bellowing for the night.
Thursday 6
Robyn working at Dalby CC Year 3. Paul and I went for a ride around the farm checking on the weaners there were a few who has crawled out but over all it was good. We went up the back and checked on the cows. Made a couple of fence repairs. Dad took us to lunch at Pips n Cherries and Paul went home from there. There was a dead calf at the front gate and when Robyn came home we dragged it away. Then we sorted the bunk room and spare room so it is ready for Ian's family to come on the weekend.
Friday 7
Dalby CC Chemistry exam Paper 1 and 2. I have my last session of LoSoP school rep session. So Jan Maree covered part of my exam super. Robyn was flat out at home preparing for Ian's family to come up and cut up meat. Robyn's mum came over and when I got home we all went to Katrina's for the night. Made more room here on the farm. We went to tennis with the boys. Met a guy who knows Harry next door and he told us he is moving to Norfolk Is. Ian and Jayne, Bree and Tim, Rebecca and Jimmy and Nick came up.
Saturday 8
Got up early and took Peg for blood tests then watched the boys play cricket. Had a cuppa at a coffee shop with Nathan and Katrina before we came home leaving Peg at Katrina's. Got back to the farm and they were just finishing up wrapping the last of the meat. No sausages because there was not enough fat. Lots of lean mince. Ian and Jayne left about 3pm. Robyn and I moved the second trough near the mill into the laneway sp the cows could access it. Storm came in late again not much rain.
